Peran Media Massa dalam Pencegahan Potensi Bencana Alam: Kajian Berita Konflik Tambang Pasir Besi

Konflik kepentingan tidak bisa dihindari ketika potensi alam dimanfaatkan dalam pertambangan. Hal ini terjadi di Kabupaten Seluma, Provinsi Bengkulu, Indonesia, dalam konflik dampak penambangan pasir besi yang melibatkan masyarakat, pemilik tambang, dan pemerintah. Pertambangan selalu bersinggungan dengan degradasi lingkungan yang berujung pada pemicu bencana. Hal ini juga tidak lepas dari perhatian media yang ditunjukkan dalam pemberitaannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran media dalam mencegah potensi kejadian bencana, khususnya terkait pemberitaan konflik pertambangan di tambang pasir besi di Kabupaten Seluma. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Metode analisis yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis framing dari Robert N. Entman, dimana peneliti akan membongkar konstruksi pemberitaan yang disampaikan media mengenai konflik tambang pasir besi di Kabupaten Seluma. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa informasi yang disampaikan dalam pemberitaan konflik penambangan pasir besi lebih menekankan dampak terhadap kelangsungan hidup nelayan masyarakat sekitar. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media dapat berperan dalam mencegah potensi bencana alam melalui pemberitaan konflik pertambangan yang berwawasan keberlanjutan dan kelestarian lingkungan.
